What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy (OT) is a science-based, health and social care profession regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council. It takes a “whole-person approach” to both mental and physical health and wellbeing and enables individuals to achieve their full potential. (Health Care and Professions Council)

Why should an organisation use Intrinsic OT?

Working with Intrinsic OT you are working with the experts in their field and not simply expert sales people.

Occupational Therapy is also a client-centered health care profession, meaning we provide the service your business and employees needs with tailor-made wellbeing plans, ensuring we get to grips with the real difficulties in your business. We do not provide set packages which suggest we know what will work for your business before we've even met. To get the best results you need bespoke services, not a one-size-fits-all solution. After all, with the uniqueness of human health and mental wellbeing, how can anything other than a bespoke service provide the results you require and expect for your investment?

Lastly, all Occupational Therapists working for Intrinsic OT are registered with the Health Care and Profession Council who is the regulatory authority. With this you can be assured that all Therapists are qualified to practice and keep up-to-fate with latest evidence based practice.

Is the service confidential?

Absolutely. Part of a Mental Health Strategy is to reduce stigma around mental health so people feel able to talk about their experiences and struggles. We know the importance of employees feeling safe to talk without judgement. As with all health care professionals, OTs abide by the strict confidentiality policies outlined in the professional standard for Conduct and Ethics, maintaining confidentiality at all times.

All data and identifiable information is stored in accordance with the new GDPR regulations. Employees' private information remains private and employee-identifiable data is not shared with their employer.

Confidentiality also ensures data is made available to the people who need it in the appropriate format. Intrinsic OT provides employers with overview reports which shows the overall mental wellbeing of their employees - and, importantly, the improvement being made - in a format with no employee-identifiable data.

Is there support for managers?

The beauty of Occupational Therapy is it works for all people, no matter what role they are in. We all have mental health and we all have challenges which impact our ability to carry out our duties, line management responsibilities or not.

The great thing about OT is it specialises in human occupations and a huge part of that is social interactions and interpersonal skills. So OT is in a unique position to assist managers with an array of occupational challenges, helping them feel happy and confident.

How do you store employee information?

All information Intrinsic OT deals with is stored and used in accordance with GDPR. With a background in the NHS, information governance is second nature to us. We take seriously the importance of IT security and ensure all data is secure.
